Gabriel Pereira is Assistant Professor in AI & Digital Culture at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), based at the Media Studies department and the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation (ILLC). His research focuses on critical studies of data, algorithms, and digital infrastructures, particularly those of computer vision. His research methods are interdisciplinary and collaborative, including both forms of qualitative research and practice-based inquiry (e.g. artistic interventions and critical making). Projects with Gabriel have been exhibited in venues such as the 33rd Sao Paulo Art Biennial, the Van Abbemuseum, IDFA DocLab, and Itaú Cultural.

Heya Kwon is an artist and researcher interested in the material and political relations of digital infrastructures. Born in South Korea and formerly a software engineer at Bandcamp (then part of Epic Games) in the U.S., she challenges dominant technological narratives by asking how digital media systems can be more collective, restful, and sustainable. Her MA research at Aalto University combines critical media theory, autoethnography, and participatory design to trace how algorithmic feeds and cloud infrastructure exhaust bodies, and to imagine alternatives. Most recently, her work has been exhibited at Designs for a Cooler Planet (Helsinki Design Week 2026) and tiat gallery in San Francisco.

Rakel Vella is an artist, Doctoral researcher in New Media at Aalto University, and part-time lecturer at the University of Malta. Her research examines contemporary surveillance and how digital infrastructures extract behavioural data and produce personalised outputs that shape thought, choice, and behaviour. Through interactive installations and sculptures, she invites participants to question how these systems influence everyday decisions and their sense of agency. Her practice brings together sculpture, video, 3D design and interactive technology to make the often-invisible workings of digital systems tangible.

Valerie Jeyeon Yong is an artist and Master’s student in New Media at Aalto University. She holds a bachelor’s degree, the Diplôme National d’Art (DNA), from ESAD Orléans in France, where she graduated with the jury’s commendation (félicitations du jury). Her current practice explores the intersection between artificial intelligence and dreams. Working across digital and interactive art, she uses emerging technologies to create playful, speculative, and thought-provoking experiences. Her work spans interactive web-based art, conceptual art, and digital experimentation, while gradually developing toward a more research-oriented approach.
